About Us

Establishment of Association of Pediatric Pathologists of India (APPI) is the culmination of joint voluntary efforts of Pediatric Pathologists from India and USA.

I have worked voluntarily on the ‘project’ of furthering the development of Pediatric Pathology in India regularly from early 1970’s onwards. Similar voluntary efforts have been made since mid-1990’s independently by Dr Ranganathan and Dr Anita Gupta . These efforts involved lectures on Pediatric Pathology topics regularly every year by visiting from USA to various major medical centers in India and joint research projects with and arranging observerships for our colleagues in India. During this period Dr Usha Kini, Dr Nandita Kakkar and Dr Bhuvaneshawari Kandalkar were establishing Pediatric Pathology  service, teaching and research in their institutions in India. Coming together of these and other academic Pediatric Pathologists from India and USA made possible the organization of annual International CME Courses in Pediatric Pathology from 2016 onwards. These courses provided a platform for taking initial steps to establish APPI.

APPI in turn will now provide a platform for all Pediatric Pathologists from entire country to collaborate with each other and with clinicians for academic endeavors, to develop standard protocols for specific Pediatric Pathology topics, to serve the sick amongst Indian children competently and to organize local teaching sessions for providing guidelines to the General Pathologists who sign out Pediatric Pathology cases in significant numbers. Dr Ranganathan and Dr Anita Gupta will continue voluntarily as US coordinators of the academic activities of APPI.

I implore you to become members of APPI and to reach APPI’S goals including having a trained Pediatric Pathologist in every major Medical Center in India to serve the sick amongst 400 million Indian children in a competent manner.
